I hope that everyone is enjoying the Halloween (or Samhain, if you prefer) party tonight. I'll be chaperoning... I think I might actually be expected to be there now. Oops. More forgetful than usual this week, I suppose.

I think I'll just blame it on old age, as I managed to forget my own birthday.

Anyway, off to go back sure no one overdoses on candy or punch.

Two days in, and nothing terribly disastrous has occurred. I have to say, I'm quite pleased with how classes have gone. I'm not sure I've won them over with my campaign to convince them that History is Fun! but I'll keep trying.

Mr. Moreau, if you were ever looking for an example of irony, I have one for you. I forgot to mention to my students that I have a terrible memory. Yes, forgot. I fully intended to tell them.

Although with the way these things are all networked up, I suppose they know now.

So I'll make it an official announcement. I have a terrible memory. It is likely to take me longer to learn all of your names and faces than your other teachers. I apologize in advance if I call you by something other than your name.

I ask that you do not attempt to exploit this fact. I do have pictures of all of you, so if you try to claim to be someone else, I will know it. But I'm trusting you all to treat me with the same amount of respect as I intend to treat all of you.

If any of you have suggestions of topics that you would like to cover, please let me know. There is, of course, required curriculum, but I am more than happy to try to integrate the things that you want to learn about (history related, please, and try to keep it PG-13?) along with those that the state says you must.

I hope that everyone has had a good start to the year.

For those curious, no, Dreamwalkers don't necessarily remember their dreams any better than anyone else. Although I may be a poor example, as I have a hard time remembering anything if I haven't written it down.

Have you ever tried to write down what's going on in your dream while it's happening? Terribly ineffective, considering that the paper and pencil are dreamstuff and don't stick around when you wake up any more than the dream does.

Last night I had a dream about a school... I think it was a school, anyway... and the students were all sort of wandering around because a much-beloved professor had passed away. I think that the professor was old. There was a pool involved, as well, but it wasn't like the pool we have here.

I wasn't particularly upset in the dream, but I rather hope it's not prophetic. Not that we have any particularly old teachers around, do we?

I'm excited about the carnival. Is anyone else going? I've missed it, the years I've been away, although I suppose I ought to have outgrown that sort of thing by now? I wonder who makes those rules, about when you become too old for certain things? Hmm...
